We offer a button covering service in a range of sizes and styles including:

  • dome
  • highball
  • marigold
  • sew-though
covered buttons, buttons, buttonholes

PREPARATION

To make your handmade covered buttons, please post to us:

  • The fabric(s), with the face side clearly marked. As a general guideline, we need approximately 2 to 3 square inches of fabric per button, depending on the size.
  • An ORDER FORM specifying your preferred size, quantity, and backing choice
Order form for small orders or a few fabric types
Order form for complex orders in multiple fabrics or styles

Please send sufficient fabric, as the cutters are larger than the finished buttons. For lightweight, sheer, or open weave fabrics, please provide double the amount or include additional lining fabric.

For example, an ‘A4’ size piece of medium-weight fabric can produce approximately:

45 buttons in size 16L / 30 buttons in size 30L / 20 buttons in size 50L

HIGH-RISK FABRIC – We do not cover PVC or plastic finishes. Coverage may also be unavailable for leather, pleather, piped lace, brocade, unstabilized jersey, knit, or other stretch fabrics.

COST

Our button prices start at £0.25 per button, with a standard black or white plastic shank back.

The costs listed below are for reference and may vary based on specific requests. Additional charges include, but are not limited to:

  • Layers: £0.05 per additional layer for lightweight, light-medium, tulle, or sheer fabrics
  • Pattern Cutting / Specific Placement: £0.15 per button
  • Special Backs: Metal, sew-through, canvas, or pin backs (available only for dome style; check the chart for sizes and pricing)
  • Covered Backs: £0.15 per button (available only with thin or lining fabrics)

The component finishes vary depending on our current stock.
Return Delivery

Orders are posted once completed and payment is cleared. There are 2 return postage options:

  1. DMButtons Postal. Priced by weight and size. See the guide prices below.
    • recorded postage – tracked / small-medium quantity (usually, orders valued up to £15) = from £6.50
    • Special delivery – tracked faster delivery / larger quantities, (usually, orders valued over £15) = from £13.50
    • Larger orders may be subject to additional costs based on weight and size. POA
  2. Personal Courier. Alternatively, you can arrange your own courier for collection by coordinating with David in advance. Courier collection hours are Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 12 PM.

Turnaround time depends on delivery receipt and current workload. We strive to process orders promptly and will post them once your order is completed and payment is cleared.

Payment

Once we receive your order we will email you an invoice. Payment can be made via:

  • online bank transfer – reference and details will be on your invoice.
  • phone payment – no minimum charge
